Friends of Cobbett Road Library, Friends of Bitterne Station and Friends of Chessel Bay published their first community newsletter in 2023. If you live and travel around our local gyratory, catch a train from Bitterne Station or walk along to the River by Chessel Bay, you might know it already but a lot goes on in this hyper-local community corner. This newsletter shares and celebrates some of the local events, activities and initiatives that make our community vibrant. It is our first edition, and we hope there will be more to come, so get in touch if you would like to contribute in the future.
Why SquareAbout News? It is not Bitterne Park, not quite Bitterne (although it has a station called Bitterne Station); it has a community library, not yet Peartree side and not across the railway line to be Bitterne Manor. Our newsletter celebrates that - willingly or reluctantly - we often go around a square roundabout [gyratory] and that while it feels a neglected part of the road, it connects lots of us and surrounding community activities.
Here below you can download a PDF version of our two newsletters published so far in Spring 2023 and Summer 2024
